Pertamina requires proof of ID card for purchase of subsidised LPG per June 1, 2024

Jakarta—PT Pertamina Patra Niaga announced a new policy for purchasing subsidised 3-kilogram LPG canisters. Buyers will need to show valid ID cards to ensure the subsidy is on target.

Antara reported Tuesday, May 28, that Riva Siahaan, President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, announced the policy during a hearing with Commission VII in Jakarta.

During the meeting, he explained that all distribution agents had collected data on subsidised fuel consumers. Consumer data is recorded in a merchant application called MAP. In April 2024, 253,365 agents were actively distributing 3 kg LPG. Of these, 98.8 per cent had been recorded at least once in March 2024.

As a result of this recording, 41.8 million IDs have already been registered in the LPG precise subsidy program, with 85.9 per cent of registrants coming from the household sector. In addition, the micro business sector contributes 5.8 million IDs.

With the implementation of this new policy, Pertamina hopes to increase efficiency and ensure that the 3 kg LPG subsidy is on target. This policy is also expected to minimise the misuse of subsidies by unauthorised parties. (Hartatik)
