To reduce carbon emissions, Gambir Station installed solar panels

Jakarta – As a follow-up of a memorandum of understanding signed with Pertamina NRE on March 9, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) installed solar panels (PLTS) at Gambir Station, Jakarta. The policy is part of a commitment to reduce carbon emissions.

“This collaboration with Pertamina RNE focuses on developing new and renewable energy (NRE) in KAI assets,” said Director of Projects and Operations at Pertamina NRE, Norman Ginting, Wednesday (28/9), adding that state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are encouraged to play a major role in decarbonisation efforts.

In addition to Gambir Station, KAI has also utilised PLTS in the Jakarta Railway Center building. In total, the capacity of the two PLTS reaches 80.5 kWp. Gradually KAI will increase capacity and expand the use of PLTS in its other assets. Another NRE potential that the two entities can collaborate on is the use of hydrogen as a train fuel. (Hartatik)
