Financing the Bottom Line: How Indonesia’s Industries Are Paying for the Green Transition

Jakarta — For Indonesia’s commercial and industrial (C&I) companies, the transition to cleaner energy is increasingly a business decision shaped not only by sustainability targets, but also by energy costs, financing and power reliability.

Manufacturers, mining companies, industrial facilities, shopping centres and other large energy users are exploring solar power and battery energy storage as part of their energy strategies. But for companies that depend on reliable electricity for daily operations, adopting cleaner energy involves more than choosing the right technology. Companies also need to consider how much capital a project requires, how it could affect electricity costs, how to finance it and whether the technology can provide sufficient operational value.

These considerations can differ significantly between industries. Heavy industrial operations may require stable electricity throughout long production cycles, where disruptions can affect production and operating costs, while shopping centres and other commercial properties rely on continuous power for cooling, lighting, building systems and tenant operations.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can support renewable energy integration, load management and backup power, but whether storage makes financial sense depends on the electricity requirements and operating conditions of each company. Finding the right combination of solar, storage and financing is therefore becoming an important part of the energy transition for C&I businesses.

These issues will be among the topics discussed at the ASEAN Solar-Storage Summit (ASSS) 2026, which will take place on November 10, 2026, at JS Luwansa Hotel and Convention Center, Jakarta.

One of the summit’s discussions, “The Bottom-Line Blueprint: Financing Green Transition, Power Reliability, and Smart Storage for Heavy Industries & Malls,” will bring together perspectives from commercial property, heavy industry, solar development and energy storage to examine how companies can balance their sustainability ambitions with financial and operational considerations.

The panel will feature:

  • Dhawal Doshi, Head of ESG & Research, NWP Property
  • Muchtazar, Head of Sustainability, Nickel Industries Limited
  • Eka Himawan, Co-Founder and CEO, Xurya Daya Indonesia
  • Jassen Su, APAC Sales Director, JD Energy

The discussion will be moderated by Ryan Tey Tze Yang, PV Analyst at Shanghai Metals Market (SMM).

Together, the panel will bring perspectives from commercial property, energy-intensive industry, solar development and energy storage, exploring how C&I companies can balance financing, power reliability and sustainability goals when developing solar and energy storage projects.

The discussion reflects a broader challenge facing companies considering the energy transition. The availability of solar panels and batteries alone does not determine whether a project will move forward. Financing structures, electricity consumption patterns, operational requirements and the value provided by the technology can all influence whether a project can move from planning to implementation.

ASSS 2026 is expected to bring together 250+ delegates from 10+ countries and 25+ speakers, including C&I energy users, solar developers, EPC companies, energy storage providers, investors and financial institutions. The summit will also include a Business Matchmaking program, providing companies with an opportunity to connect directly with relevant industry participants based on their solar, energy storage, procurement, investment or partnership requirements.

For C&I companies considering their next energy investment, the summit will provide a platform to explore how solar and energy storage can be financed, structured, and integrated into real business operations.
Eligible C&I professionals can also apply for a complimentary conference pass to join ASSS 2026.
