Xurya operates hundreds of solar plants, cutting 146,645 tons of CO2 annually

Jakarta – The pioneer in developing national solar power plants (PLTS), Xurya has reached a total operational capacity of over 100 megawatts (MW) spread across 200 locations. Xurya Managing Director Eka Himawan said in a statement on Thursday, January 9, that the achievement was not just a matter of numbers but also a significant impact on the environment and society.

“We believe that Indonesia has great potential to lead the clean energy transition and are committed to being part of the solution. This success is a testament to the hard work of local human resources who can bring about change,” Eka said.

The solar power plant operated by Xurya produces 164 million kWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by 146,645 tons of CO₂, equivalent to the environmental benefits generated by planting nearly 2 million trees over ten years.

“This is our real contribution to global efforts in climate change mitigation. Every project we run is designed for energy efficiency and to provide a sustainable positive impact,” Eka added.

Empowering local labour

In addition to its environmental impact, Xurya has created more than 2,000 green jobs in various regions, empowering the local workforce and strengthening the national renewable energy ecosystem.

Through collaboration with Huawei Indonesia and JJ-Lapp Indonesia, Xurya launched the Solar Academy Indonesia training program, which has trained more than 100 individuals in the technical field of solar power plants. The program aims to reduce Indonesia’s dependence on foreign experts while accelerating local mastery of solar energy technology.

Confidence in Xurya has also come from international investors, with new funding of USD 55 million led by the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund, Swedfund, Clime Capital, British International Investment, and AC Ventures. The company’s total funding is now USD 88 million or around Rp 1.5 trillion.

In the same year, Xurya received the ESG Award 2024 from Yayasan Kehati for the Impact Entrepreneur category and the B Corp certification, confirming the company as a business responsible for social and environmental impacts.

Xurya does not stop at the current achievements. Eka Himawan emphasised that the clean energy transition journey requires consistent innovation, collaboration and commitment.

“We provide energy solutions for today and build a solid foundation for the future. Together with the government, we are optimistic that we can support the zero carbon emission target and realise a sustainable future for Indonesia,” Eka added. (Hartatik)
