Jakarta—PT PLN Energi Primer (PLN EPI) and PT Energi Mineral Langgeng (EML) have signed a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) for the South East Madura region to meet the urgent needs in Madura, which has been dependent on gas supplies from Java, according to a PLN EPI spokesperson on Monday, March 24.
PT Energi Mineral Langgeng’s director, Kikin Abdul Hakim, added that cooperation with PLN EPI has been ongoing since 2013 despite various challenges. “In the initial stage, the gas supply from ENC is around 7 BBTUD, and we are targeting that figure to continue to increase until it reaches 30 BBTUD,” said Kikin.
PLN EPI President Director Iwan Agung Firstantara said that this initiative resulted from planning that began eight years ago.
The project will start flowing gas from the ENC Field on 31 October 2025. According to PT PLN (Persero) Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development Hartanto Wibowo, the new gas plant will increase supply reliability and improve voltage instability in Madura.
“The presence of this plant will help increase capacity and support the economy of Madura while providing direct benefits to the local community,” Hartanto explained.
Rayendra Sidik, Head of SKK Migas’s Oil and Gas Commercialisation Division, also affirmed the company’s commitment to optimising domestic gas’s potential for the electricity sector. “We fully support efforts to fulfil the need for gas for power plants so that in the future Madura will get a more secure electricity supply and voltage,” he said.
With the signing of this purchase agreement, Madura will no longer experience electricity supply constraints, which have been a major challenge, and regional economic growth can be encouraged sustainably. (Hartatik)
