Jakarta – PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) is encouraging investors committed to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) funding programme to accelerate the Hijaunesia 2023 project.
In this project, which aligns with the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), PLN IP will develop power plants from new renewable energy, with a capacity of 7 Giga Watts (GW) and spread across 108 locations throughout Indonesia.
PLN Indonesia Power President Director Edwin Nugraha Putra hopes this project will receive support from G20 member countries who have agreed to encourage energy transition in Indonesia by mapping clean energy projects in JETP financing.
“The projects prepared by PLN Indonesia Power support the Indonesian Government’s agreement with the G20 member countries. Various strategic partners from within and outside the country will be involved through the financing support of the JETP programme,” Putra said in an official statement.
Head of JETP Secretariat Indonesia, Edo Mahendra, welcomed the Investor Forum Hijaunesia 2023. According to him, PLN IP’s strategy to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia aligns with the goals that JETP Indonesia will achieve. “The seriousness and good planning and commitment of this collaboration are expected to produce good results as well,” he said.
The Hijaunesia 2023 programme is currently in the process of selecting strategic partners for the development of some PT PLN Indonesia Power’s strategic green energy projects, such as PLTS (solar power plant) Banyuwangi, PLTS Pasuruan, PLTS Terapung Gajah Mungkur, PLTS Terapung Kedung Ombo and PLTS Terapung Jatigede, each with a capacity of 100 MW.
Several G20 member countries, together with the United States, Japan, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and the United Kingdom, agreed to disburse funds through the JETP programme amounting to 20 billion USD for the electricity decarbonisation programme in Indonesia. The government targets the Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) for JETP funding to be published on 16 August. (Hartatik)
