PLN cooperates with seven integrated power companies in China

Jakarta – PT PLN (Persero) Group established cooperation with seven Chinese companies recently at the Indonesia-China Business Forum in Beijing, according to PLN officials. The cooperation aims to expand business in the electricity sector and accelerate the development of renewable energy in Indonesia.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that PLN is transforming into a global-scale integrated electricity company beyond its role as an electricity provider. According to him, PLN has carried out a business transformation that includes establishing sub-holdings, allowing more significant business expansion opportunities and asset optimisation.

Prasodjo said he is optimistic that this cooperation will bring significant changes to Indonesia. This transformation aligns with efforts to achieve the net zero emission (NZE) target, and cooperation with various Chinese companies is a comprehensive strategic step in achieving this goal.

“This cooperation covers three main sectors, namely new and renewable energy (NRE) acceleration, power plant operation and maintenance services, and business outside the electricity sector (Beyond kWh),” he said.

In the NRE acceleration sector, PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) has signed an agreement with China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. Furthermore, PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) has collaborated with Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corporation Ltd in a joint study on the development plan of a Wind Power Plant (PLTB) in Indonesia.

PLN IP also agreed with Hong Kong Ocean Investment Development Co Ltd to study renewable energy development in Indonesia. Related to cooperation in NRE acceleration, PLN IP also collaborates with HBA Offshore Pte Ltd and GCL Intelligent Energy (Suzhou) Co Ltd in studying wind power development in Tanamori and Luwuk.

In addition, PLN Enjiniring agreed with Envision Energy Co Ltd to collaborate on technology consulting and NRE plant development projects in Indonesia.

In the power plant operation and maintenance services sector, PLN NP is working with GD Power Development Co Ltd to conduct a study of potential cooperation in the field of power plant operation and maintenance services.

Finally, to support the Beyond kWh sector, PLN Icon Plus collaborates with PT China Mobile Indonesia to provide smart home systems, including smart home devices, set-top boxes, and platforms with a managed service scheme. (Hartatik)
