Jakarta – The demand for natural gas in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan will be supplied by PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS) or PGN as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding. Based on calculations that have been carried out, the potential demand for natural gas in IKN is approximately 12.6 BBTUD.
PGN’s Director of Infrastructure and Technology, Achmad Muchtasyar, said that the development of natural gas infrastructure by PGN is carried out in five stages in the IKN development area, based on the stages of population growth determined by Bappenas. The development is aimed at fulfilling the energy needs of the commercial and household sectors.
For gas supply in IKN, he continued, PGN will provide from the East Kalimantan Gas Field which is channeled through the PGN Senipah-Balikpapan pipeline. Then it can use PGN’s LNG Filling Station with a capacity of 12.8 BBTUD with an available gas allocation of 4-7 BBTUD.
While SPBG Balikpapan operated by Pertamina Retail has a capacity of 1 BBTUD, with an available capacity of 0.2 – 0.4 BBTUD. PGN also has an allocation of 5 BBTUD of Kayan LNG, with 2.5 BBTUD still available. Natural gas supply in IKN up to phase 5 is estimated to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by 45,852 Tonnes CO2 per year. (Hartatik)
