PGEO cooperates with Sulzer Indonesia for geothermal power plant maintenance

Jakarta – Renewable energy company PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGEO) works with Sulzer Services Indonesia to maintain its Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP). The management cooperation is carried out for five years.

The contract, obtained through a tender process, will provide strategic maintenance support for PGEO’s five PLTPs, which have a total capacity of 330 MW. The maintenance will help Pertamina Geothermal achieve its power capacity and supply reliability targets.

Pertamina Geothermal Energy President Director Julfi Hadi said in a written statement on Monday, October 28, that PGEO’s collaboration with Sulzer Indonesia strengthens the company’s commitment to the growth of geothermal energy, to supporting Indonesia’s decarbonisation goals, and to improving energy security.

The partnership aims to enhance operational excellence by integrating innovative solutions and best practices that improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability across PGEO’s geothermal operations.

“By continuously optimizing processes and leveraging cutting-edge technology, PGE is well positioned to lead the way in clean energy provision while maintaining world-class operational performance standards,” Julfi said.

Sulzer Services Indonesia President Director Joko Sutopo said the agreement demonstrates Pertamina Geothermal’s trust in Sulzer’s competence, track record and overall service quality. This cooperation will also support Indonesia’s target of achieving net zero emission (NZE) by 2060.

“Amid increasing electricity demand driven by industrial growth and rural electrification programs in the region, we want to ensure PGE continues to be a reliable source of electricity supply for the communities and businesses they serve,” Joko said. (hs)
