Jakarta – PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA) continues to strengthen its clean energy portfolio by accelerating the construction of the Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) project in Batam and the full operation of the Minihydro Power Plant (PLTM) in Lampung by 2025. On Thursday, 6 March, TBS Energi said that the move is part of the company’s strategy to support the national energy transition towards a renewable energy mix.
TBS Energi President Director Dicky Yordan emphasised that the completion of financing for the floating solar power plant in Tembesi, Batam, and the operation of the Sumber Jaya MHP in Lampung were important milestones for the company in expanding into the green energy sector. “The Tembesi Floating Solar Power Plant, which has an installed capacity of 46 MWp, will be one of the innovative projects in developing renewable energy in Indonesia,” he said.
With the financing phase’s completion, the floating solar power plant in Batam will begin soon. TOBA expects the project to be commercially operational and integrated into the national grid by the fourth quarter of 2025. The floating solar power technology used is expected to increase land use efficiency and maximise the potential of solar energy in the area.
Meanwhile, the Sumber Jaya MHP in Lampung has entered the commercial operation stage (COD) since 22 January 2025. With a capacity of 6 MW, this water-based power plant will support clean energy supply for the southern Sumatra region.
“Hydropower plants provide stable and sustainable energy output, so they can play a role as an important component in a green energy system,” added Dicky.
TOBA received financing support from various financial institutions, including PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, as part of the company’s transformation towards a sustainable energy-based business. (BMRI) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (SMI). Bank Mandiri Senior Vice President Corporate Banking 3, Heru Eko Prasetyo, revealed that funding for this project aligns with Bank Mandiri’s commitment to encourage national energy transition.
“We not only provide funding but also financial solutions that accelerate the energy transition and expand positive impacts for the industrial sector and society,” Heru said.
Similarly, SMI President Director Reynaldi Hermansjah emphasised the importance of supporting green energy projects as part of sustainable development. “We hope this partnership can accelerate access to green energy and ensure clean energy supplies for future generations,” said Mr Hermansjah.
