Jakarta – Marriott International Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pertamina Gas Subholding through its affiliate PT Pertagas Niaga (PTGN), as an effort to decarbonise the hospitality sector.
PTGN President Director Aminuddin said, the cooperation is regarding the supply, distribution and purchase of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for the business continuity of Marriott International Group which manages hotel chains in a number of cities and districts in Indonesia. The conversion of LPG use to CNG in the Marriott International Group Hotel network in Bali has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by 15% or the equivalent of 428 tonnes of CO2/year.
“Natural gas in the form of CNG and LNG is a cleaner energy source and plays an important role in the transition phase from fossil energy to renewable energy,” he said in a written release.
Therefore, he continued, this MoU is not merely an agreement between two parties, but a form of concrete action by PTGN and Marriott International Group to realise a cleaner and more sustainable environment through reducing CO2 emissions. (Hartatik)
