BREN shares hold IDX Composite from freefall

Jakarta—Shares of renewable energy issuer PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) held back the Indonesia Composite Index (IDX Composite) from falling deeper at the close of trading on Thursday, August 29. In today’s trading, BREN shares continued strengthening and closed 2.21% higher to 10,425.

Meanwhile, the IDX Composite failed to continue strengthening towards the close of trading session II after touching an all-time intraday record high of 7,715.75. At 16:00 WIB, the IDX Composite ended trading with a weakening of 0.41% to 7,627.6.

With today’s strengthening, BREN shares have strengthened 39.46% since the beginning of the year, with a market capitalization value of IDR 1,394 trillion.

BREN shares also strengthened alone among the movements of other renewable energy issuers’ shares, which tended to weaken.

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) shares fell 2.6%, and PT Arkora Hydro Tbk (ARKO) shares weakened 1%. The shares of PT Semacom Integrated Tbk also fell 0.92% in today’s trading.

Meanwhile, the shares of PT Kencana Energi Lestari Tbk (KEEN), PT Terregra Asia Energy Tbk (TGRA), and PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA) closed stagnant in today’s trade. (hs)
