Jakarta – PT PLN (Persero) canceled the program to switch from 3-kg LPG stoves to electric stoves, to maintain stability during the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic. President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo in a written release, Wednesday (28/9), ensures that electricity rates will not increase through a Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) decree.
He said, the decision is solely to maintain the strengthening in people’s purchasing power and maintain economic stability. “PLN also ensures that there will be no elimination of customer groups with 450 Volt Ampere (VA) power. The 450 VA electric power will also not be transferred to 900 VA, so the tariff remains the same for each group,” said Prasodjo, adding that PLN is ready to implement the decision.
Prasodjo said PLN has never conducted any formal discussions or planned to transfer electrical power from 450 VA to 900 VA, and at the same time also has nothing to do with the electric stove program.
The electric stove program was initiated to suppress LPG imports, and some consider the plan as a way to increase electricity consumption to overcome the PLN oversupply. (Hartatik)
