Jakarta – PT PLN (Persero) requires an investment of IDR 17.96 trillion to achieve a 100 percent electrification ratio, said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, Thursday (16/6). The current electrification ratio has reached 99.5 percent.
In a written statement, Prasodjo explained, the additional capital of IDR 17.96 trillion was to provide electricity services in remote areas. This amount includes investments in Java, Madura and Bali at an amount of IDR 2.03 trillion, Sumatra and Kalimantan of IDR 9.33 trillion, and Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Papua of IDR 6 trillion.
“We hope that with the presence of electricity in these areas, there will be a multiplier effect through increasing employment, increasing tax payments and increasing the real sector economy, so that it can be a driving force for local economic growth,” said Prasodjo.
According to him, PLN has taken a corporate action of IDR 196.8 billion to support the creation of a 100 percent electrification ratio in Indonesia. In 2023, PLN will receive an injection of funds from the government through state capital participation (PMN) of IDR 10 trillion.
“Building energy infrastructure throughout the archipelago, especially underdeveloped and remote areas, is a manifestation of Indonesia’s sovereignty at the borders between countries,” he concluded. (Hartatik)
