Jakarta – Kalla group, in collaboration with renewable energy infrastructure company, Suryanesia, on Monday, March 17 officiated the development of solar rooftop power generation (PLTS) at Nipah Park and Kalla Toyota Gowa, which will have a capacity of 887.6 kWp and 25.74 kWp respectively.
Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer of Kalla, Subhan Djaya Mappaturung, said in addition to the above two places, both parties will also install solar panels at four property areas of Kalla Group, namely Mal Ratu Indah, Kalla Toyota Palu, Kalla Toyota Parepare, and Kalla Toyota Maros, Sindomakassar.com reported.
He said the installation of the solar power plant is projected to be completed by the end of this year. The electricity produced from the solar power plant will be awarded Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) issued by the state electricity company PLN.
Kalla Land & Property CEO Ricky Theodores said the electricity supply from the solar power plant will fulfill around 15% of the company’s electricity needs. In addition, the electricity from the power plant will reduce Nipah Park’s carbon footprint by 417,381 kg CO2.
The Head of the Renewable Energy Office of the South Sulawesi Province, Andi Bayu Arief, appreciates the Kalla Group’s move to collaborate with Suryanesia in developing a solar power plant. “This will certainly support the government’s drive to reduce carbon emission,” he said. (Roffie Kurniawan)
