Jakarta—The Indonesian government has disbursed Rp 29.88 trillion in compensation funds to cover revenue shortfalls caused by the determination of retail selling prices of certain types of subsidised fuel. This compensation is intended for diesel fuel and Pertalite, which were distributed in the first quarter of 2024.
The payment includes tax, while without tax the value reaches Rp 26.92 trillion.
President Director of PT Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, expressed her appreciation for the government’s support for the continuity of subsidized fuel distribution in Indonesia.
“We are very grateful to the Government, especially the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of BUMN, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, which has ensured the payment of fuel compensation funds that we distributed in the first quarter of 2024,” Nicke said in a statement on Tuesday, September 17.
Nicke added that this compensation payment was not the first. Previously, in May 2024, the government had also paid compensation funds for the fourth quarter of 2023 totaling Rp 43.52 trillion, including taxes, or Rp 39.20 trillion without taxes.
According to Nicke, this compensation is crucial in maintaining Pertamina’s financial stability so that fuel distribution continues to run smoothly. “With the support of the government, Pertamina can continue to provide affordable energy for the community and ensure that subsidised fuel is right on target,” she explained.
Furthermore, Nicke encouraged the public to use fuel and LPG wisely and register their vehicles in the subsidy recipient system. Currently, Pertamina continues to carry out digitalisation efforts through the Pertalite QR Code, which aims to ensure that only eligible people can enjoy subsidised fuel.
“Pertamina invites Pertalite users, especially four-wheelers, to immediately register as recipients of subsidised fuel through the QR Code,” Nicke said.
Until early September 2024, as many as 4.1 million motorized vehicles have been verified and use the QR Code system at various gas stations. This initiative began in the Java, Madura and Bali regions as well as several other areas such as Riau Islands, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, East Kalimantan and Aceh.
In addition, Pertamina continues to develop digital infrastructure at gas stations to support the distribution of subsidised fuel that is right on target. These efforts include digitising the fuel and LPG distribution chain, real-time monitoring systems, and increasing cooperation with law enforcement officials. (Hartatik)
