Renewable energy stocks rally on Tuesday, February 4

Jakarta—Shares of renewable energy companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed mostly higher on Tuesday, February 4. At the end of trading, five stocks recorded gains, one weakened, and two remained unchanged.

The Indonesian Composite Price Index (IDX Composite) climbed 0.62% to 7,073.459. Asian markets recovered following Trump’s decision to postpone tariffs on Mexico and Canada, despite U.S. tariffs on China taking effect and China’s retaliatory measures against the U.S.

PT Arkora Hydro Tbk (ARKO) led the gainers, which surged 6.38% to 1,000, followed by PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), which advanced 5.65% to 8,875. PT Kencana Energi Lestari Tbk (KEEN) also strengthened, gaining 1.56% to 650, while PT Hero Global Investment Tbk (HGII) inched up 1.05% to 192. PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA) climbed 2.21% to 139.

Meanwhile, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) was the only stock to close lower, slipping 0.55% to 910.

Two stocks, PT Semacom Integrated Tbk (SEMA) and PT Terregra Asia Energy Tbk (TGRA) remained unchanged at 89 and 49, respectively.

Trading volume remained strong, with BREN leading the activity with over 17 million shares exchanged. The overall positive performance of renewable energy stocks reflected growing investor interest in the sector. (nsh)
