Jakarta—This year’s Lebaran homecoming trip will be more environmentally friendly, with 25 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) provided by PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR) along the toll road on Java Island. Jasa Marga has prepared these charging points for electric car users who will travel home using environmentally friendly vehicles.
“To support the acceleration of the use of battery-based electric vehicles, Jasa Marga has prepared 25 SPKLU points in various toll road rest areas, an increase from the previous 17 points,” said Lisye Octaviana, Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga, in an official statement, quoted on Friday, March 22.
The SPKLU points are spread in several strategic locations such as Jagorawi Toll Road, Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road, Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Cipularang Toll Road, Palikanci Toll Road, Batang-Semarang Toll Road, Semarang-Solo Toll Road, Solo-Ngawi Toll Road, Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road, and Surabaya-Mojokerto Toll Road.
“Electric vehicle users who plan homecoming and return trips can try this SPKLU because the points are spread from Jakarta to Surabaya,” Octaviana explained.
Meanwhile, the use of electric vehicles on toll roads is also increasing, along with the significant growth in the number of electric cars in Indonesia. Data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) shows that sales of electric cars in Indonesia jumped dramatically, reaching 15,437 units in 2022, an increase of 383.46 per cent from the previous year.
The figure jumped again in 2023 to 69,763 units, up 237.31 per cent compared to the previous year. This indicates that Indonesian people’s interest in electric cars is increasing. (Hartatik)
