BREN shares under pressure, Prajogo Pangestu falls from richest man’s throne

Jakarta – The owner of the Barito group conglomerate company, Prajogo Pangestu, is no longer the richest person in Indonesia. Djarum group boss Budi Hartono now replaces his position as the richest person in Indonesia.

Based on Bloomberg Billionaire Index data on Monday, October 7, Budi Hartono’s wealth reached USD 25.2 billion, equivalent to around Rp395.54 trillion. Meanwhile, Prajogo Pangestu’s wealth was recorded by the Bloomberg Billionaire Index at USD 24.6 billion.

Since the beginning of this year, Prajogo Pangestu’s wealth has decreased by 20.7%. This decrease was in line with the share price of PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), which decreased by 9.7% during the year.

In a month, BREN shares have been cut by 37.5%. Today, BREN shares fell 2.88% to 6,750, preventing Barito Renewables Energy’s market capitalisation value from returning to Rp1,000 trillion.

BREN shares are still unable to recover from the impact of the expulsion of the shares of this renewable energy issuer from the prospective residents of the FTSE Russell Index. In addition, BREN shares are now under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in terms of stock trading transactions. (hs)
