Jakarta – Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang explores new oil and gas reserves by drilling the SRT-1X exploration well in Mendis Jaya Village, Bayung Lencir District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, the company said in a written statement, Tuesday (15/3).
The General Manager of Zone 1 Sumatera, Ani Surakhman explained that the SRT-1X well is the third exploration well to be drilled by Zone 1 in 2022. The first well drilling began on March 7, 2022 with an estimated time of 62 days. The work is part of PHE Jambi Merang’s Definite Work Commitment which is included in the Subholding Upstream Pertamina Regional Sumatra Zone 1. Previously, the CMA-001 exploration well was drilled in the Pangkalan Susu Field and the SGET-001 well in the Jambi Field.
“We have also drilled five development wells, namely the SGC-031, SGC-032, KTT-045 and SKB-002 wells in the Jambi Field, as well as the P-460 well in the Rantau Field,” explained Surakhman, adding that exploration well drilling aims to find new oil and gas reserves, while development wells are drilled in structures with proven oil and gas reserves with the aim of increasing production.
“We are committed to increasing oil and gas production, including through drilling development wells, improving operating performance, optimizing existing production fields, continuing exploration work programs, transforming resources to production, and utilizing technology to implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR),” she said.
Surakhman admits that the massive and aggressive work program is one of the strategies as an effort to increase Zone 1 oil and gas production. The Head of Representative of SKK Migas for Southern Sumatra Anggono Mahendrawan said that SKK Migas and KKKS would continue to make efforts to increase production. oil and gas, especially in the South Sumatra region.
“I appreciate the Jambi Merang PHE KKKS for the drilling of the SRT-1X exploration well. We hope that we will succeed in finding new oil and gas reserves as we all hope, so that we can contribute to achieving the oil production target of 1 million barrels per day and natural gas of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030,” he said.
Zone 1 Regional Sumatra Subholding Upstream Pertamina seeks to meet the 2022 oil and gas production target set by the government, namely oil 22,817 barrels per day (BOPD) and gas 185 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). This target was achieved with the well work plan, that is 27 development wells, 3 exploration wells, 7 workover wells, as well as conducting well services-well intervention as many as 934 wells.
