Jakarta – PT Pertamina (Persero), through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), has increased the supply of LPG by 200 thousand tons ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations 2024-2025. This step was taken to ensure energy availability was maintained and meet the community’s increasing needs during the holiday season.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed on Saturday, December 21, that this additional supply does not involve imports. He emphasised that the additional needs are fully met from domestic sources, which also denies the issue of LPG scarcity circulating in the community.
“It is not true that there is a scarcity of LPG. Our national stock is safe for the next 25 days, even more. The additional 200 thousand tons for 2024 is part of our strategy so that there are no distribution disruptions,” Bahlil said while reviewing the Tanjung Gerem Fuel Terminal (TBBM) in Banten.
In addition to LPG, Pertamina is increasing fuel reserves so that the average stock resistance is above 20 days. Under normal conditions, fuel stocks usually last around 15 days. This step anticipates spikes in consumption while avoiding potential distribution disruptions in the field.
“We also maintain the resilience of fuel. The current average stock can reach 18 to 20 days. We have prepared alternative distribution routes if obstacles such as congestion exist,” Bahlil said.
Pertamina also ensures the readiness of energy infrastructure during the Christmas and New Year period. Nationally, energy stocks are supported by a distribution network that includes 7,786 gas stations, 6,802 Pertashop, as well as hundreds of LPG agents and other supporting facilities. Not only that, additional energy services on strategic routes such as toll roads and tourist areas have also been prepared, including standby gas stations and motorist delivery, to ensure people’s needs are met.
“During the holiday, we prepared 56 fuel service kiosks, 207 standby tank cars, and 245 motorist deliveries on potential routes. We are committed to ensuring smooth distribution and public convenience,” said Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Alfian Nasution.
Regarding daily consumption, fuel types such as Pertalite have a stock resistance of up to 20 days with an average consumption of 50 thousand kiloliters (KL) per day. Meanwhile, Pertamax and Biosolar have a resilience of 22 days and 38 days, respectively. For Avtur, supply resilience is estimated to reach 28 days with an average consumption of 14,926 KL daily.
This anticipatory step shows the government’s and Pertamina’s commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and affordable energy during the holiday period. With sufficient supply and maintained distribution, the community is expected to experience Christmas and New Year celebrations without any obstacles related to energy supply. (Hartatik)
