DEN: Four provinces in Papua remain without energy general plans

Jakarta – Provincial governments in Indonesia have achieved the target of preparing a Regional Energy General Plan (RUED) by 2023, according to the National Energy Board (DEN). In an online press conference on DEN’s 2023 Achievements and 2024 Work Program, the board’s Secretary General Djoko Siswanto said four newly-formed regions in Papua have yet to complete the RUED.

He said that until the end of 2023, 34 provinces have completed the RUED. However, with the recent division of one province into five, the four new provinces, namely Southwest Papua, Central Papua, South Papua, and Papua Mountains, have yet to draft their own RUED.

“The Papua RUED drafting (process) was repeated, which was previously one province, now it is five because there are an additional four. So there are only provinces that we have not completed in 2023 and God willing, we will complete it in 2024,” said Siswanto.

He said, in 2023, DEN has assisted the preparation of RUED in 5 provinces namely DKI Jakarta, Riau Islands, West Papua, Papua and East Java (revised). In addition, DEN also conducted socialisation with the four new autonomous regions in Papua province. (Hartatik)
