BREN collaborates with Kyndryl to implement AI in Star Energy operations

Jakarta—Renewable energy company PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), through its Star Energy Geothermal business unit, has partnered with Kyndryl, one of the world’s largest IT infrastructure service providers.

Barito Renewables’ management, in a disclosure published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday, December 9, stated that, with this collaboration, Star Energy now uses generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in its operational activities through cloud-native technology.

Kyndryl will then integrate its open integration platform powered by the AI Kyndryl Bridge to improve IT operations in geothermal units through automation and AI operations (AIOps).

The solution enables the optimisation of AI and machine learning to provide real-time insights into IT systems’ performance, proactively detect problems, and provide solutions.

As a result, the solution will improve system reliability and reduce downtime by predicting system failures before they occur. It will also automate IT tasks, streamline workflows, and allow IT teams to focus on strategic initiatives rather than being preoccupied with routine maintenance.

“Cloud technology makes us more agile, better connected and technologically agile when dealing with evolving demands and preferences in the energy market. As a path to the future, this technology will drive innovation, efficiency, and is critical in optimising operations, reducing costs, and supporting our transition to renewable energy while strengthening our commitment to sustainability,” said Merly, Director and Corporate Secretary of BREN in her statement.

Merly added through a partnership established in 2017 that Kyndryl will move Barito Renewables’ existing IT workloads at operational sites to the Microsoft Azure Cloud to drive cloud innovation and improve customer service with clean energy. (hs)
