Jakarta—The Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) project, managed by ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), has increased production by 30,000 barrels per day (bpd). This brings the Cepu Block to account for around 25 per cent of total national oil production, overtaking Pertamina’s Rokan Block.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated in a press release on Thursday, June 26, during the inauguration of the renewable energy project and the increase in production of the Cepu Block at the Ijen geothermal power plant, that the success of the BUIC project hinges on the speed of its implementation.
Prior to the BUIC project, Cepu Block production was approximately 150,000 barrels per day (bpd). With the addition of BUIC, daily production now stands at 180,000 bpd.
“The total investment in this project reached USD 4 billion, and so far it has provided USD 30 billion to the country. It also significantly strengthens the PAD of Cepu and East Java,” Bahlil emphasised. (Hartatik)
