Jakarta—Vanda RE Pte Ltd, a joint venture company co-owned by Singapore-based Gurīn Energy Pte Ltd and Gentari through Gentari International Renewables Pte Ltd, said on Thursday, May 15, that it had signed a significant framework supply agreement with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co Ltd for the supply of solar PV models to the company’s project in Riau Islands province.
Under the agreement, LONGi will supply up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of high-performance solar PV modules. The panels will be deployed in Vanda RE’s utility-scale solar-and-storage project in the Riau Islands.
Vanda RE’s project is underpinned by 2 GWp of solar PV installed capacity and 4.4 GWh of battery storage. It is part of a green economic corridor being developed between Indonesia and Singapore.
Projects within the green economic corridor will incentivise leading companies like LONGi to invest in Indonesia’s clean technology supply chains and industries. Vanda RE said this will generate a positive knock-on effect for the Indonesian economy by lowering the cost of domestic renewable energy development and boosting the attractiveness of Indonesia as a destination for sectors dependent on green energy.
“We are pleased to partner with LONGi, a leading solar technology company, through our joint venture company Vanda RE. LONGi’s innovative work in clean energy aligns closely with Gurīn Energy’s mission to accelerate the energy transition in Asia,” said Enda Ginting, Country Manager, Indonesia of Gurīn Energy.
“This is just one of several agreements that Vanda RE has entered into. These partnerships strongly support Indonesia’s development as a regional clean technology hub by creating demand for Indonesian-made equipment, delivering green jobs, and facilitating foreign investment and knowledge transfer,” he added.
“We are honoured to partner with Vanda RE and Gurīn Energy on this landmark solar-plus-storage project in Indonesia’s Riau Islands, which underscores LONGi’s commitment to advancing Asia’s energy transition through cutting-edge technology,“ said Frank Zhao, President of LONGi Asia Pacific.
He continued that such collaboration meets Indonesia’s local content (TKDN) requirements and demonstrates how large-scale renewable projects can drive local industrial growth, attract green investments, and strengthen cross-border clean energy partnerships.
“By deploying our high-efficiency solar modules, we are proud to support Indonesia’s ambition as a regional clean tech hub while delivering sustainable, cost-competitive power to Singapore. This project sets a powerful precedent for public-private synergy in accelerating decarbonisation across ASEAN,” Frank Zhao said. (Roffie Kurniawan)
