Jakarta—PT PLN (Persero), together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), inaugurated the 113th Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), which operates for 24 hours nonstop in Jakarta. The inauguration occurred at the MoEF office, Gelora, Central Jakarta, in commemoration of World Environment Day as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo emphasised PLN’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s energy transition. “PLN is ready to support the energy transition in the country, one of which is through the massive provision of EV infrastructure,” he said in an official statement Tuesday, June 11.
Prasodjo said this infrastructure development is carried out continuously from upstream to downstream to ensure people are not worried about using electric vehicles.
General Manager of PLN Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit (UID), Lasiran, added that 113 SPKLUs have been built in 98 strategic locations in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
“We will continue to add SPKLUs, especially in public places that are easily accessible, such as malls, terminals, stations, public parking lots, and rest areas,” he said.
PLN also launched EV Digital Services (EVDS) on the PLN Mobile super app to facilitate access to electric vehicle users.
“With the support of digitalisation, now people can enjoy special services for electric vehicles, starting from finding the presence of SPKLU and SPBKLU, applying for home charging services, to conducting test drives and purchasing electric vehicles on PLN Mobile,” Lasiran explained.
Meanwhile, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya said regarding switching from fossil to renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions: “The transition of fossil fuel vehicles to electricity is an important solution that we must encourage and implement”.
She encouraged using electric vehicles in the MoEF environment by inviting all first-echelon rank officials to use them as their daily official vehicles. (Hartatik)
