Jakarta – The Indonesian government has officially extended the cooperation contract (KKS) of the Ketapang Working Area for 20 years. The extension was granted to PC Ketapang II Ltd (PCK2L), a subsidiary of Petronas.
“With this extension, we hope Petronas can continue to contribute to meeting national energy needs and increase state revenues,” said Dwi Soetjipto, Head of SKK Migas, in a written statement Monday, January 8.
According to him, the oil and gas industry also welcomes the extension of the Ketapang PSC. This extension can provide investment certainty for oil and gas companies.
“The extension of the Ketapang PSC is a positive sign for the Indonesian oil and gas industry,” said AR Sonny Aswan, executive director of the Indonesian Association of Oil and Gas Companies (Aspermigas).
The local community welcomed the extension of the Ketapang PSC because, according to them, this extension can improve the welfare of the surrounding community. “We hope that the extension of the Ketapang PSC can provide more benefits for the surrounding community,” said the Ketapang District Community Communication Forum Chairman, East Java, Imam.
PCK2L stated it is ready to increase oil and gas production in the Ketapang Working Area. The company will carry out various strategic projects to increase regional oil and gas production.
“We will continue to work closely with the Indonesian government and our partners to achieve the national production target,” said Datuk Adif Zulkifli, Executive Vice President and CEO of Petronas Upstream.
Petronas is the operator of the Ketapang, North Madura II and North Ketapang Contracts of Cooperation located offshore East Java. In addition, it is a partner in seven other cooperation contracts located onshore and offshore Sumatra, Natuna Sea, East Java, and Eastern Indonesia. (Hartatik)
