Jakarta—PT Pertamina (Persero) emphasised its commitment to strengthening the development of household gas networks (jargas) as part of the energy transition strategy towards net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060. This step is also expected to increase the utilisation of clean energy sources in the community.
Pertamina’s Finance Director, Emma Sri Martini, stated that the company will continue to optimise its use of Jargas and Gas Fuel Filling Stations (SPBG) as transitional energy infrastructure.
“In the future, Jargas will play an important role in energy transition. Of course, there needs to be support so that Jargas assets function and play an optimal role in carrying out the energy transition,” Emma said in an official statement on Tuesday, July 2.
According to Emma, the gas network managed by Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), has encouraged people to utilise natural gas for household needs. In addition, gas has also been used by the public for transportation through SPBG. Pertamina has received non-cash State Capital Participation (PMN) for the 2021-2023 period in the form of jargas and SPBG facilities and infrastructure.
“Regarding jargas connections, the PMN currently reaches 426,385 Household Connections (SRT). The majority of the distribution is in Java, and some others are in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua,” Emma explained.
She also added that the PMN has been well utilised to provide various energy services for the community, which positively impacts Pertamina’s performance.
With the optimisation of jargas and SPBG, Pertamina hopes to accelerate the clean energy transition and achieve the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060 while providing significant benefits to the people of Indonesia. (Hartatik)
