Jakarta—PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) continues to innovate to improve the efficiency and reliability of its power plant operations by implementing an advanced digitalization system called the Reliability and Efficiency Optimization Center (REOC).

According to PLN IP in a written statement on Tuesday, October 1, this system is capable of monitoring more than 21 gigawatts (GW) of power from various power plant technologies in 35 Generating Business Units (UBP) and 1 Maintenance Business Unit (UBH) throughout Indonesia. REOC also manages more than 90,000 parameters in real-time, assisting PLN IP in analyzing performance and optimizing plant operations.

PLN Indonesia Power President Director Edwin Nugraha Putra explained that REOC was developed by PLN IP’s best team of engineers. “REOC is part of innovation and efficiency that provides added value to the company. This system allows real-time monitoring of plant operations, increasing efficiency and effectiveness in plant management,” he said.

Edwin added that with REOC, PLN IP can monitor all plants in an integrated manner, making it easier to identify potential problems and make repairs faster. “REOC helps us improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase company revenue,” he explained.

In a discussion with executives from Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited, an energy company from Thailand, Edwin introduced REOC as a digital innovation in the field of electricity generation that can have a positive impact on the company’s operations. “This system is not only beneficial for PLN IP, but also attracts international energy companies to learn and work with us,” Edwin added.

Collaboration with Gulf Energy

Deputy President Director of Gulf Energy, K Ravi Kurmarohita, expressed his admiration for the digital transformation that PLN IP has implemented. “We are very impressed with how PLN IP manages its power plants using REOC. This is a great opportunity for us to learn and we hope to collaborate in the near future,” he said.

The discussion also featured a live simulation of how REOC works to monitor and optimise power plants’ performance across Indonesia. The advanced technology REOC uses helps ensure plant efficiency and reliability while supporting PLN IP in facing the increasingly complex challenges of the energy industry.

PLN Indonesia Power continues to pursue digital transformation as part of its strategy to strengthen its business in the global market. REOC, as one of the key innovations, plays an important role in supporting the company’s vision to become a major player in the power generation industry. “We believe that with technological innovations such as REOC, PLN IP can continue to grow and compete in the global market,” Edwin said.

PLN IP also continues to develop and improve the REOC system to ensure that this technology remains relevant and able to answer future challenges. With a focus on efficiency, reliability and sustainability, PLN IP is optimistic that REOC will be key in improving the company’s competitiveness in the international arena.

This transformation not only strengthens PLN IP’s position in the national electricity industry, but also opens up opportunities for cooperation with international energy companies such as Gulf Energy, who are interested in learning from the digital innovations that have been implemented in Indonesia.

Thus, REOC is not only a symbol of digital transformation for PLN IP, but also a clear proof that technological innovation can provide significant added value in facing the challenges of the energy industry in the future. (Hartatik)
