JAKARTA – The State Palace has started to utilize gas distributed by PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN). The gas, which was first distributed to the kitchen of the State Palace on Wednesday (9/3), is a form of PGN’s commitment to expanding the use of natural gas as a safe and environmentally friendly energy.

In a written release, Thursday (10/3), Area Head of PGN Jakarta, Sheila Merlianty, said that the initial gas distribution process to the State Palace ran smoothly. “We hope that in the future this will continue and set an example for the general public, that the State Palace believes that natural gas is safe, environmentally friendly, and convenient to use,” she said.

Merlianty said she estimated that natural gas customers will also increase along with the development of natural gas infrastructure in the capital Jakarta area. “People can see this added value, so more and more people are interested in using natural gas,” she said adding that gas is more comfortable and environmentally friendly.

The Head of the Presidential Secretariat General Bureau, Erry Hermawan said that “currently this is only the initial installation for cooking energy in the kitchen. We hope for maintenance support and during VVIP activities when you need energy to cook in the palace kitchen. The Presidential Palace Kitchen will utilize natural gas with a volume of 50 – 1,000 M3,” he explained.

Hermawan also plans to not only use natural gas for kitchen needs, but also large-scale heating or washing clothes with heat technology, such as services at the Bogor State Palace. In case of problems or emergencies, PGN has a contact center that can be contacted 24 hours a day. To date, PGN Jakarta Area has served 268 industrial commercial customers ranging from malls, hotels and restaurants, as well as serving 138 small customers, and 15,332 household customers.
