PLN’s dividend to the state increased by 191.7 per cent

Jakarta – The contribution of PT PLN (Persero) as a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) to the state or dividends has increased by 191.7 per cent from IDR 750 billion in 2021. The PLN General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) agreed to deposit dividends to the state in 2022 amounting to IDR 2.19 trillion.

In the GMS held at the Ministry of SOEs, on 7 June 2023, PLN reported the best financial performance in the company’s history with a net profit of IDR 14.44 trillion in fiscal year 2022. This performance increased from IDR 13.1 trillion in 2021.

According to PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, the main factor in the increase in net profit was the rise in electricity sales, which reached 6.3 per cent or a total of 273.8 Terawatt hours (TWh). This achievement impacted the electricity sales revenue by 7.7 per cent, from IDR 288.8 trillion in 2021 to IDR 311.1 trillion in 2022.

The increase in electricity sales was dominated by industrial customers whose electricity consumption increased by 24.54 per cent and the business sector which increased by 22.47 per cent.

Prasodjo said he is optimistic that PLN will continue their best performance this this year and next year. PLN will strive to be optimal in managing operational and financial performance so that it can contribute more to the country,” he said in an official statement, adding that improvement in PLN’s performance will have a multiplier effect to the community’s economy and the state.
