PGE booked USD 204.85 million revenue in the second quarter of 2025, optimistic on strengthening energy transition

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) reported positive performance in the second quarter of 2025 with revenue reaching USD 204.85 million, growing 0.53% year-on-year (YoY). The company’s net profit was recorded at USD 68.93 million, supported by energy production that exceeded initial projections.

PGE Finance Director Yurizki Rio said in a press release on Tuesday, 29 July, that the company’s financial fundamentals remained strong amid geopolitical and global economic challenges. “Our EBITDA margin is maintained above 80%, reflecting efficiency and profitability in managing assets and operations,” he said. The company also recorded total assets of USD 3.05 billion and cash and cash equivalents of USD 712.34 million, growing 1.62% and 8.69% YoY, respectively.

PGE is optimistic that it can achieve its target of 1 gigawatt (GW) of independent installed capacity in the next two to three years. Strategic projects being worked on include the development of Hululais Units 1 & 2 (110 MW), cogeneration (230 MW), and exploration of the Gunung Tiga Geothermal Working Area. The operation of PLTP Lumut Balai Unit 2 at the end of June also added 55 MW of electricity to the national grid.

PGE President Director Julfi Hadi emphasised that geothermal plays an important role in supporting Indonesia’s Net-Zero Emission 2060 target. “We want geothermal energy to benefit all, not only providing electricity but also encouraging a circular economy and the welfare of the surrounding community,” he said. PGE recently won eight awards at the Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (ISRA) 2025.

Currently, PGE manages an installed geothermal capacity of 1,932 MW, consisting of 727 MW operated independently and 1,205 MW with partners, contributing around 70% of the total national geothermal installed capacity. (nsh)
