Jakarta – Through green energy products Pertamina Renewable Diesel (Pertamina RD) as a green fuel for power generators sets (gensets) for electric vehicles that participated in the international Formula E Jakarta E-Prix 2022 event in Jakarta, last Sunday (4/6).
The use of Pertamina RD at the Jakarta E-Prix 2022 began with the signing of the Pertamina RD supply cooperation agreement between the President Director of PT Pertamina International Refinery (PT KPI), Taufik Adityawarman, President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PT PPN), Alfian Nasution and Director PT Jakarta Propertindo Business Support, Muhammad Taufiqurrahman at the Heritage Room, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Taufik Aditiyawarman said that this collaboration also strengthens Pertamina’s steps in the energy transition. “Pertamina RD is an environmentally friendly superior product processed from the Cilacap BioRefinery so that it can produce Green Diesel Products with a capacity of 3,000 barrels per day from vegetable raw materials. HVO can also be produced at BioRefinery Dumai with a capacity of 1,000 barrels per day,” he said in a written release last week.
Currently, Pertamina’s refineries have been able to produce biofuels (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil/HVO) and Bioavtur or Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The development of HVO and SAF products is one of Pertamina’s strategic steps in supporting the national energy transition. In foreign markets, the trend of demand for green energy such as HVO and SAF is starting to grow in various countries. The work synergy between Pertamina’s subsidiaries in supplying Pertamina RD is also a form of the company’s commitment to providing green energy supplies, for the purpose of producing electricity for generators for charging EVs during the Formula E event in Jakarta. This collaboration is also an important milestone for Pertamina by carrying out the first lifting for Pertamina RD products, after the completion of the Cilacap Biorefinery Phase 1 project in January 2022.
“Hopefully this will be a good example for the future development of the Green Diesel market, to support government programs in creating clean and environmentally friendly energy,” said Aditiyawarman.
Pertamina RD’s own products have received ISCC certification, one of the largest organisations regulating sustainable carbon certification and applied globally. ISCC’s sustainable carbon certification was initiated by the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) policies implemented in the European Union. Outside the European Union, other countries have adopted ISCC standardisation including PT KPI in Indonesia.(Hartatik)
