Jakarta—PT Pertamina Gas, the operator of the Cirebon-Semarang (Cisem) phase I gas pipeline, is strengthening its operations to support national energy security by optimising the use of the gas pipeline infrastructure.

This became the main focus when the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) visited one of Pertamina Gas’ facilities, the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) Tambak Lorok, Semarang, Central Java.

During the visit, Gamal Imam Santoso, President Director of Pertamina Gas, emphasised the company’s commitment to maintaining the reliability of gas distribution to end users. “We have implemented existing operating standards to ensure the security and safety of gas distribution following applicable regulations,” Gamal said in an official statement on Monday, June 3.

The management walkthrough was also carried out to increase the utilisation of gas distribution through the Cisem pipeline to consumers. This step is part of Pertagas’ commitment to prioritising Operational Excellence and HSSE aspects.

Meanwhile, Noor Arifin Muhammad, Director of Oil and Gas Engineering and Environment at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted the importance of safety in the oil and gas industry. He expressed satisfaction with the safety standards implemented at the Cirebon – Semarang (Cisem) I ORF gas reception facility.

The Cisem Phase I pipeline, which stretches 62 km from Semarang to Batang, is a gas transmission line built to meet the needs of various industrial areas, including Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK) and Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB).

The director of Infrastructure and Technology of Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN), Harry Budi Sidharta, emphasised the importance of integration in optimising gas use as part of the energy transition.

“Pertagas is expected to strengthen further its role as a reliable infrastructure manager to distribute natural gas throughout Indonesia,” he said.

With this effort, Pertagas is committed to developing its operational reliability to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply for all levels of society. The vision of integrating gas transmission is expected to be well realised, in line with the company’s spirit of “Delivering Reliable Energy”. (Hartatik)
