Jakarta – ABB Energy Efficiency Investment Survey 2022 survey was launched earlier this month in conjunction with a UN report calling for global collaborative action to encourage efforts to accelerate the reduction of the greenhouse effect. The scope of the global survey published by Sapio Research targets 2,294 companies with a scale of 500 to 5,000 employees or more in 13 countries.
As a result, more than half or 54% of companies have started investing, while another 40% are planning to make energy efficiency improvements this year.
“As a country that is vulnerable to climate change, it is important for Indonesia to make an energy transition. It starts with a focus on energy efficiency efforts that will enable the realization of decarbonization for other sectors more effectively and efficiently,” said ABB Indonesia Country Holding Officer Gerard Chan, Thursday (9/6).
Furthermore, responding to the survey, there were 106 industrial drivers in Indonesia of which 61% stated that they plan to achieve the zero emission target within 5 years. As many as 75% of respondents chose sustainability commitments as the main reason driving energy efficiency investment, making Indonesia the country with the highest score in this aspect globally.
“This survey offers an up-to-date picture of industrial investment programs and plans abroad in implementing energy efficiency measures to achieve the zero emission target,” he added.
The cost factor is the main obstacle to efforts to improve energy efficiency, followed by the termination of the operation process, as well as the lack of digital skills of the workforce. In addition, 59% of respondents (Indonesia) stated that they had received adequate information and support from the government and third parties ranked the highest in this aspect globally. (Hartatik)
