Mining contractor Pamapersada absorbs 2,898 MWh of PLN green electricity

Jakarta – PT PLN (Persero) supplies PT Pamapersada Nusantara Banjarbaru Support Office (BBSO) with green electricity through Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) services. The service was provided after signing a 2,898-unit REC certificate sale and purchase agreement between the mining contractor company and PLN South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan Distribution Unit (UID Kalselteng).

General Manager of PLN UID Kalselteng, Muhammad Joharifin explained that REC is a certificate for producing electrical energy generated by renewable energy plants where one REC unit is equivalent to 1 Mega Watt hour (MWh).

This year, said Joharifin, PLN continues to work with companies that want to use clean energy. So far, three South and Central Kalimantan companies have enjoyed clean energy from PLN.

Deputy BBSO Head Pamapersada Nusantara Arif Cahyadi said that the use of green electricity is a form of his company’s commitment to efforts to reduce carbon emissions. By using RECs, Pamapersada contributes to the reduction of 641.30 tonnes of CO2. This is also in support of the government’s programme to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 31.9 percent by 2030.
