Through the active participation of all participants, I am confident that this task force will provide relevant and actionable policy recommendations to the G20 leadership,” Widyawati was quoted on Friday. (22/4).
She said that the main objective of the B20 TF ESC was to ensure an inclusive process in developing policy recommendations and actions to be achieved.
TF ESC deputy chair Agung Wicaksono explained that the taskforce also aims to develop partnerships and collaborations, develop technology to carry out capacity building in various countries, and increase value that will attract investment and financing access.
“To achieve this goal, we invite the members to realise a corporate agreement and pilot project and target it to be completed in September or October 2022,” said Wicaksono.
The taskforce carries three main vectors, namely accelerating the transition to sustainable energy use, ensuring a fair and affordable transition, and increasing global cooperation to ensure energy security.
At this meeting, there were a number of inputs and recommendations from the B20 Secretariat which would later be added to several new policy actions to be discussed in more depth, to suit the focus and collective needs that represent the interests of the B20 community as a whole.
ESC B20 Policy Task Force Manager Oki Muraza explained that currently there are 12 inputs for policy actions from 14 policy actions discussed in the previous call meeting.
“There are 12 policy actions which are a sharpening of the discussion of the 14 policy actions that we discussed earlier. This has not been agreed upon and will continue to change until this policy has represented all of us,” Oki added.
The meeting entitled “3rd Task Force Call Meeting” was attended by around 140 participants including 8 co-chairs of Task Force ESC B20 and B20 members from 19 industries and 25 countries. (Hartatik)
