BPI Danantara secures USD10 billion funding from Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power for green energy projects

Jakarta – Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has successfully partnered with ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabian energy giant, with a USD 10 billion investment commitment. The step was sealed through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties on Wednesday, 2 July.

Danantara’s CEO, Rosan Roeslani, stated that this collaboration was not just a matter of funds but also a testament to international confidence in Indonesia’s green energy future.

“Danantara and ACWA Power signed a strategic partnership Memorandum of Understanding with a total value of USD 10 billion. This is an important milestone in strengthening economic relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia,” Rosan wrote on his official Instagram account, @rosanroeslani.

According to Rosan, the jumbo funds from ACWA Power will be allocated for the development of various renewable energy utility projects in Indonesia, including solar, wind, and green hydrogen power plants. This is in line with the government’s ambitious target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.

“This agreement will encourage innovation and investment in the energy sector and strengthen our joint commitment in supporting the vision of sustainable development,” Rosan explained.

Danantara’s global footprint

Since its launch by President Prabowo Subianto in February 2025, Danantara has been aggressively courting global partners. Apart from Saudi Arabia, the state investment institution has also secured funding commitments from several countries, including Qatar, Russia, China, and Australia. The total investment from international cooperation has now reached USD 17 billion, or approximately Rp275 trillion.

Rosan emphasised that Danantara’s presence is not only to attract investment, but also to spur national economic growth in a more progressive direction.

“With the existence of Danantara, God willing, we can accelerate Indonesia’s economic development. The 8-per cent economic growth target as directed by the President becomes more realistic with the support of global strategic partners,” he said.

As the government’s strategic partner in investment management, Danantara is now a new axis in Indonesia’s economic diplomacy in the green sector, as well as the spearhead of achieving national energy transformation. (Hartatik)
